Fall, especially as we near Halloween, is a special time of year that brings out the kid in all of us. It’s a season filled with creativity, community, treats, and a little spookiness.

To ensure all our residents enjoy this time of year, we’re committed to creating inclusive and engaging Halloween activities everyone can join in on.

In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at a range of Halloween activities designed to bring joy and excitement to our senior residents.

Halloween Happy Hours: Our independent living communities, like the Bozeman Lodge, host delightful Halloween and fall-themed happy hours for residents and community members to enjoy. These gatherings feature popular season flavors – pumpkin and apple, as well as live entertainment and fall-themed décor.

Pumpkin Painting: We know that carving pumpkins can be physically demanding for some seniors. That’s why we offer an equally enjoyable alternative – pumpkin painting. Many of our communities provide pumpkins and gourds in various shapes, sizes, and colors, along with washable paints, stencils, stickers, and inspiration from magazines or the internet. We encourage creativity and are there to help our assisted living and memory care residents craft the perfect jack-o-lantern.

Halloween Bingo: For those BINGO enthusiasts, some of our communities, like Arbors Memory Care in Sparks Nevada, have given the classic game a Halloween twist where BINGO cards have numbers replaced by stickers of bats, pumpkins, and spiders. Halloween candy makes the perfect BINGO prize!

Homemade Costume Contests and Parades: We encourage seniors to unleash their creativity by coming up with homemade masks and costumes for our annual parade at La Conner Retirement Inn. Our residents who require assistive devices for getting around also get into the spirit of dressing up by decking out their walkers and chairs in spooky fall décor.

Treat-Making: We involve our residents in making Halloween-themed treats, whether it’s baking Halloween-themed cookies or making popcorn balls. This is a delightful way to celebrate the holiday while keeping our residents engaged and active.

These inclusive Halloween activities cater to the diverse needs of residents at every care level, ensuring they can enjoy the spirit of the season in a meaningful way.
